Joshua Tree
Situated on a quarter-acre parcel in the village district of California’s high-desert, the Joshua Tree House turns inward, unto itself, braced against high winds, wild animals, and adjoining properties via 7-foot-tall steel paneled permitter fencing and a minimal, pebbled garden. The original “Homestead” house having been added to over the years, left a warren of rooms circumambulating the original structure. The design preserved the original homestead core as the new primary bedrooms, and the opened up the surrounding rooms into one flowing, skirting public space, for living rooms, dining, and kitchen.
